FAQs

Got a question?

can you source plants on my wishlist?

Due to the number of requests Mae Thorani receives, we cannot source plants for individuals. Feel free, however, to send through requests as we can keep a look out when we are looking for new stock items. We cannot advise you if/when they come in but do keep a look out on our socials as we will put a post up when new plants are in stock.

How will my plant be posted?

MT plants are mostly sent bare root or semi-bare root. They are also sometimes sent in jiffy pots or plug pots. This allows the plant(s) to be securely fastened to the box they are sent in, with less chance of dislodging and getting damaged in transit. It also helps to minimise postage costs by keeping weight to a minimum.

Where does MAE thorani post to?

Mae Thorani Plants does not post internationally. We do ship within Australia. NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD and SA are easy and don’t require permits. We can also post to WA however a permit will need to be supplied and additional fees are applicable (see Shipping and Returns for more info). Plants can be sent to NT and TAS however they need to be sent via approved persons. Please contact Jo Howski at homeofhouseplants@gmail.com to arrange if you are interested.

How do I organise a permit to ship to wa?

Step 1: Check the status of your import on the WAOL list to see if you can import. https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/bam/western-australian-organism-list-waol

Step 2:

In some cases you may be able to apply for a prior approval to import plants that can forego some treatments. This must be for less than 20 plants and certain conditions will still need to be met including being washed free of all soil and potting mix. A full inspection on arrival will also need to be carried out. Some species will not be able to be imported by this method. To apply for prior approval please contact Quarantine WA Follow-up Officer on 08 9334 1800. Fees and charges will apply.

how much is POSTAGE?

Mae Thorani only posts Express using Australia Post. Mae Thorani has a flat rate fee of $15 per order. Exceptions are shipping to WA which will be calculated based on the weight of the order.

How can I track my order?

Tracking is sent to your email provided via AusPost.

how does the pick-up option at check-out work?

If you live in Sydney you can opt at check-out to pick-up your items instead of having them posted.

If you choose this option you MUST be able to pick up your items the weekend of the week purchased. The cut-off time for these orders is 11:59pm on Thursdays. Any orders placed after this time will be picked up the weekend after. The plants are delivered into the store every Saturday morning at 10am.

For example, if you place an order on Tuesday, you must be able to pick your items up either Saturday or Sunday (4 days after purchase). However, if you purchase your items on Friday you will have to be available to pick up on Saturday or Sunday the next weekend (8 days after purchase).

Mae Thorani does not hold plants for when you are ready to pick-up. Space is limited and unfortunately we cannot accommodate this.

The locations for pick-up: Root’d (62 Glebe Point Road, Glebe NSW 2037 - Open 6 days)

Can I combine my orders?

Unfortunately due to the number of orders we receive we cannot combine orders. Once orders have been finalised and a confirmation received they cannot be ammended.

Can mt provide plants at a wholesale rate?

Mae Thorani can provide plants at a discounted rate if a qty of 20 or more of the same species is required. Please get in contact to arrange.
